The location is central, yet the property needs a makeover: the room had a mix of cheap furnishings, the mattress was very thin and of poor quality, the bathroom was grimy with black mould and damp on the bath panel from a leaking shower screen, and the common area carpets were dirty and shredded in places.

The location and breakfast were both very good. The mattress, however, needs renewing because the bed was very low.

The room and bathroom were comfortable and bright, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It sits close to the main street and within walking distance of the train station, above a pub that has a large public car park right behind it—what’s not to like? The only downside is that it’s a working pub, so there are morning barrel deliveries, though they’re not too early.
