“Not the place we booked, made to feel unwelcome, and a little uncomfortable.”
We were transferred from Gairloch Highland Lodge to The Old Inn without any prior notice. The rooms were plain and had recently been redecorated. The beds were decent but nothing special. That would have been acceptable, but the host’s attitude really spoiled it. There were no signs directing us from the parking lot, so we entered through the bar. The man there seemed annoyed that we used the wrong entrance and was quite curt. He softened a bit after showing us to our rooms, but later that night around 9 pm when we returned to the bar, the chairs were already set up on the tables and the host was chatting with his local friends, ignoring us entirely. We assumed the bar was closed, left, and the host’s partner—a woman—told us it was open. We went back in only to receive the same cold reception. We left without staying.
