Walking 10 minutes gets you to the samurai district, another 10 minutes takes you to the castle and park, so the location is excellent. The breakfast was superb and the facilities were immaculate, beyond all expectations!

The Japanese room was very nice, simple as one would expect from a classic Japanese space with tatami mats, a small table with floor seating, and a futon that you set up yourself—very beautiful. Unfortunately, my room faced the street and was noisy, so bring earplugs! Otherwise it was really pretty and clean, and there were plenty of towels for multiple nights. There was no room service, which is normal in Japan. The price-performance ratio is a drawback; after seeing several other accommodations in Japan this month, rooms with similar design offered more amenities (onsen, more extensive meals) for lower prices. Breakfast consisted of pastries from the fridge that you can warm in the oven, fruit, one small bottle of water, one banana, and a portion of coffee to brew. That’s okay, but as noted it isn’t justified for the overall price. The staff are not on site.

The breakfast was tasty, but for families, staying on the first floor might be better to avoid footfall noise.
