I hosted a group of five adults and six children, and the only thing that impressed me was the location. The tourists in my group said, “Tatiana, good morning! From now on, do not book Ryahion Guest House in Khiva, where we are now. Cockroaches, the shower doesn’t work, very dirty.” We all work in tourism, so the service level needs to be raised: eliminate cockroaches, check plumbing and electricity daily (especially in season), keep the place clean every day, because Uzbeks are particularly clean compared to other Central Asian peoples. We don’t want travel operators to feel ashamed of you in front of tourists.

I liked the personal touch, quick service, and great location, plus the price was good. The place felt a bit dated and more like a motel or guest house, but for the price and local standards that’s normal and common.

Everything was magnificent! The location was simply perfect, just a few minutes’ pleasant walk to the main sights. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was very clean, the room was spacious and very authentic. Breakfasts were very generous and filling: vegetables, fruit, eggs, cheese, dried fruit, nuts, jam, etc. The guest house is run by a very sweet family who really try hard to make their guests comfortable!

Near the city walls, the staff were very kind and helpful. We stayed one night before heading out.
