I stayed at a family farm right in the heart of the Black Forest, and the peace was palpable. The owners, who live on the property, kept us completely private and were ready to help whenever we asked. Breakfast was decent. We arrived just as a heat wave was ending, with temperatures hitting 38 °C; if we’d arrived earlier it would have been hard to sleep without air conditioning, so installing it would be a smart move as these hot spells become more common.
