The owner and his family were very kind, helpful and welcoming; he had a jeep and took me on a safari at a fair price, and he was also a good driver and guide. The room was large, new, and clean, and I enjoyed the welcome tea and the generous dinner. It’s a bit far from the city centre but the location is convenient if you’re heading to Galle or other southern cities next; they helped me catch a direct bus to Galle. I had to call the owner when I took a shower because he had turned off the hot‑water switch without asking; he fixed it quickly, but it would be better to let him know the time beforehand or contact him before using the shower.

The host (an elderly gentleman) was extremely kind and very helpful, always attending to details. The room was large, clean, had air conditioning and a mosquito net. It isn’t mentioned in the hotel description that the safari is highly recommended to book with the hotel, so we suggest booking the safari with them to avoid any misunderstandings once on site.

I stayed in a spacious, spotless room and the dinner was fantastic; the staff were honest and helpful, and they arranged a safari for us at a great price. The whole experience was clean, valuable, and I’ll be back.

Lovely family owned small hotel. The owner & his family are really welcoming. The organized a safari for us and we had a delicious rice an curry for dinner (best we had so far in Sri Lanka!). After the morning safari we could do a late check out and even have some fresh breakfast. All was super clean & everyone was so friendly. Sadly we could stay only 1 night. Highly recommended if you want to visit Udawalawe!
