The whirlpool was great, wine and water were in the fridge, and the location is nicely set away from tourist hotspots with a pleasant garden view. The sink had a slight odor, but Giovanni (owner) immediately called a plumber to fix it. The toilet/shower was in the same room as the bed and it was a bit noisy outside.

The place is located well, but it looks nothing like the pictures on the website; it feels a bit abandoned and needs more care. Only the room is rented, the garden is neglected. The room was not very clean, there was no hand soap, just one already-used shower gel bottle. The glass kettle has limescale deposits. A dry plant sits in a corner, and the bed frame still needs cleaning. Contact with the owner is only by phone. Breakfast is offered at a nearby paid venue, so it’s more of a room‑only rental than a B&B.

Mazzolla is a lovely hideaway for a couple, quiet and 7 km from Volterra. The Albana trattoria is outstanding, just steps from the lodging and very “Instagrammable”. The equipment is in poor condition (the whirlpool bathtub isn’t working) and the electricity is unreliable.

The décor was great, and the staff were incredibly helpful—absolutely loved it! Not much else to say.
