When I booked my stay, I didn’t realize the room I had booked was quite small. I asked if it would be possible to upgrade to a more spacious room, and the host kindly upgraded me at no extra charge. I appreciate the kind gesture. When I arrived at the guest house, I unfortunately did not have the host’s contact number readily available. I pressed the intercom several times but received no response. It was quite cold, so I had to search through my bag and emails to eventually locate the host’s contact details and make a call. Prior to my arrival, I had communicated that I expected to arrive between 8:00–9:00 pm. When the host eventually came to assist, I expressed my disappointment about the delay in gaining access. However, I felt that my concerns were met with defensiveness, as it was explained that no one was available at reception at that hour and that the call had only just been received. While I appreciate that misunderstandings can happen, I had expected that, given my communicated arrival time, there might have been a follow‑up to confirm whether I was still on my way, particularly as it had become much later than anticipated. To help avoid similar situations in future, I suggested that connecting the intercom to a cellphone could be a practical solution for after‑hours arrivals
