“Close to train station, staying amongst locals”

The location was great, close to the train station. Check‑in was a bit later than I expected based on our travel plans, but the host let us in an hour earlier than the posted time.

The owner cancelled my reservation on the day of arrival because the bathroom wasn’t working. I understand that unexpected problems can happen, but I was disappointed that the owner offered no help finding another place. I had already paid in full, yet the owner marked me as a no‑show. I find that extremely unfair, because I didn’t cancel or fail to arrive. The owner cancelled the stay because of a bathroom issue and then treated it as if I was responsible. I expect a professional and honest approach; at the very least, help finding alternative accommodation and an accurate report of what happened would have been expected.

“Great place, friendly host, yummy Pizza next door and a coffee machine in your bedroom :)”

I had a great stay in Bologna! I’ve visited many countries and stayed in countless places, but Francesco’s apartment was truly one of my favorite experiences. As a solo female traveler, safety and peace of mind are always my top priorities, and this place felt exceptionally safe, comfortable, and welcoming. The location couldn’t be better – super close to both the city center and the main train station, so I didn’t have to haul my heavy backpack onto any buses. There’s also a great local restaurant right next door. Finding the apartment and checking in was seamless. Francesco was there waiting for me when I arrived and walked me through every detail of the apartment, even pointing out the provided shampoo. Even though he doesn’t speak fluent English, he tried his best to explain everything thoroughly so I was completely comfortable. It’s refreshing to see an owner who personally ensures guests are well taken care of and informed. He clearly takes immense pride in his work. The apartment layout has three bedrooms – two for the family and one dedicated guest room. I had total privacy; the family occasionally dropped in to use their laundry or access storage, but over four days I only ran into them once or twice, which didn’t bother me at all. They live in an apartment in the same building, not on the same floor. The guest room itself was spotless, bright, and very comfortable. Highlights included a spacious bed with good pillows, window shutters that block all light for a perfect dark night’s sleep, a super clean, bright, well‑lit bathroom, a work table, a generous closet, and a coffee machine in the bedroom (a true testament to how seriously Italians take their coffee!). I highly recommend this place. The only building remark: I generally prefer taking the stairs anyway and don’t care for elevators, which worked out fine because the building’s elevator is quite tiny. If you have oversized luggage or suffer from severe claustrophobia, just keep in mind that you’ll need to walk up three flights of stairs!
