A small hotel with a stunning view of Ha Long Bay, perfect except the breakfast wasn’t very suitable for Europeans, but that’s not a big deal; it remains a good establishment.

For a single night, it works fine if you’re heading to a Grand Pioneers Cruise and then a Halong Bay Cruise Ship Tour, because the Pioneers Cruises check‑in lounge is right in front of the hotel. The room is okay, the balcony on the 5th floor looks straight at the Halong Bay, and breakfast is pretty basic—just cold coffee and almost only Asian dishes.

We didn’t like anything. We arrived at 10 pm after notifying staff, but no one answered; the hotel was dark, lights off. We knocked and a man sleeping on the sofa opened the door, handed us a room that was barely normal, thinking guests would be asleep. At 7 am a pneumatic hammer started on the floor above—imagine the noise. The morning surprise at breakfast was that there was none; they sat us at a table and gave us Vietnamese soup, three butter‑slathered toast pieces on broken bread, so we rushed to another place for breakfast. In short, they offered rooms while the hotel was under construction, probably because of the two‑week‑old typhoon. I didn’t like it at all and would never return.
