The room was warm, comfortable, clean and well lit, and the bathroom was spotless with plenty of hot water, towels, and other amenities. However, the bathroom felt a little dated, with a shower over the bath, and the bed could have been more comfortable.

The location matched my needs, but the place needs a refurbishment and a deep clean, and the continental breakfast options are too limited for vegetarians.

The breakfast was excellent and the location is good, but parking comes with a charge.

The location is great and the rooms are comfortable, and the breakfast staff are very polite. The breakfast buffet offers a typical English breakfast, but given the hotel’s long history since the 1700s and numerous renovations, I expected mini‑fridges in the rooms; there are kettles and an ironing board but still no fridges. The breakfast could use more variety – there’s yogurt, but fresh fruit for the yogurt or syrup‑free fruit would be nice.

Not much to say, and it simply needs to close down.
