“Great apartment but aweful owner”
I found the location great, right next to the emerald beach and within walking distance of the aquarium, but the owner’s aggressive behavior ruined most of the stay. He sent us threatening messages overnight, demanding we pay 75000 yens for the kids after we told him only two adults were on the booking, even though we had five young children—three under six, a nine‑year‑old, and an eleven‑year‑old—caught on a hidden camera. He first claimed kids under six were free, then insisted on an extra 75000 yens in cash or he’d evict us. He arrived early in the morning, rang the bell repeatedly, and didn’t even let us change clothes before opening the door. We were stuck and had to pay 25000 yens in cash after 30 minutes of bargaining, and the apartment size didn’t change at all; he just wanted cash. This aggressive encounter spoiled a big part of the experience, and it’s the first time in six weeks in Japan that I’ve met an owner so hostile, especially when kids are normally welcome.
