Conveniently located near everything we wanted to do in the area—parks, restaurants, historic homes, and businesses. The whole area is a historical landmark if that interests you. Read about the area sometime. Pilot Knob Hill is visible in the background, and the historic Knob Creek runs behind the Shepherd Mountain Inn. The creek played a big role in the Battle of Pilot Knob. The Battle of Pilot Knob State Historic Site preserves the battlefield of Fort Davidson, a key Civil War engagement in September 1864.

The room 53 needed a bit of upkeep: several lights were out, spider webs and dead bugs were tucked behind the curtains and in the bedroom corners, and the light under the microwave for cooking has been out since last year.
