The room was spacious, the bed was very comfortable, and the location was ideal at 50 m from the city centre.

Despite the anonymous owners’ promise of croissants at exactly 10 am, breakfast was missing, so we left at 10:20; we were unhappy because we waited in the heat for the 4 pm check‑in time, saw no sign that we were in the right place, and after 15 minutes called the proprietor’s number who seemed unaware of our booking; after a long wait in the heat she put us on hold while she checked online, spoke limited English and tried to describe a door that wasn’t visible; eventually she grudgingly agreed to drive over to let us in, promising it would take 5 minutes but it took 20; no apology, she never gave her name, seemed unused to having guests, and took us up an unsafe staircase with no handrail (seniors beware); the sparsely furnished room had bare stripped wood floors that looked raw and newly finished, furnishings seemed hastily assembled from garage sales, the linen on the bed was mismatched, and we weren’t told about Wi‑Fi or given any instructions; overall this does not seem like a serious accommodation for travelers and I’m not sure why it’s listed; La Chambre aux Oiseau (no explanation of the name or any visible bird theme) is truly for the birds.

The location was close to the centre, but the lack of equipment—no fridge to keep drinks cool during the hot Pentecost weekend—along with very limited hygiene products in the bathroom was disappointing.
