Rahat Guesthouse

I stayed at an amazing guesthouse in a beautiful spot. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The homemade dishes were delicious; breakfast was included, and we also ordered lunch to go and dinner separately. The lunch was carefully prepared, giving us enough food to carry on a full day hike. They also offer transfers from Karakol and laundry at reasonable prices. My room had its own toilet and heating and was comfortable. The location is convenient for hikes or horse‑riding trips, and the owners can help book excursions and provide a trail map for self‑guided walks.

“Wonderful stay amidst the best scenery Kyrgyzstan has to offer”

Zhanyl was a gracious host who truly made us feel at home, offering extra food even when we were cooking our own meals, except for breakfast, which was a delicious spread. Zhanyl and her husband went out of their way to help us get transportation to Altyn Arashan the next day and gave us other useful tips to make our onward journey smooth. Jyrgalan itself is a quaint remnant of old Kyrgyzstan that is rapidly disappearing, with a genuine country vibe. It’s a great area for outdoor activities and exploring Kyrgyzstan’s beautiful scenery. We highly recommend a visit. The payment was in USD, which is not the case, so please come prepared with only Kyrgyz currency (KGS/som). This left us in a dilemma as we had not been able to access a Kyrgyz bank yet and had come only equipped with USD. There are no banking facilities in Jyrgalan. We are grateful that Zhanyl graciously made an exception for us.

Great food, nice location close to the start of many hikes. Babushka was super friendly and happy to accommodate! Good value for money
