Los Chocuacos.

The hosts were incredibly friendly, taking time to chat and making us feel part of their family. The lake is a dream, especially the water‑lily garden that opens its flowers at night – worth staying up for. Our room was tiny but spotless and had everything we needed. No complaints at all.

The lodge sits in a stunning natural setting, surrounded by birds and blooming flowers, which makes it feel very peaceful. We ate dinner on‑site and it was really good, and a boat ride on the pond let us get up close to the wildlife. The rooms are simple but comfortable, and there was nothing that bothered us.

“Unterkunft an paradiesischen Teich mit Vögel und tropischen Pflanzen”

We stayed in the little two‑person cabin – it’s compact but includes a toilet, shower and air‑conditioning. Set right on a lake teeming with birds and tropical plants, it’s a nature lover’s paradise. Breakfast was excellent and the owners were friendly. Just note the access road is about a kilometre off the main road, so a 4×4 makes life easier.

The family running the place are really warm and welcoming, and the spot itself is unique – named after the boat‑billed heron and sitting by a lake full of water lilies. The food was solid and the setting lovely. The only downside is the room, which is cramped with a tiny shower and toilet, though it does have air‑conditioning.

“Una estancia en un lugar de paz en medio de la naturaleza”

Tucked away in a quiet forest, the site is beautiful and the lagoon is stunning; the family who run it are extremely friendly, always up for a chat and very attentive. We did hit a minor bathroom snag, but they fixed it quickly – something they should smooth out for the future. Overall, a tranquil hideaway with great hosts.
