“Very nice and comfortable stay, yet impersonal”

The room was a good size, very clean, and the bed was very comfortable, set in a beautiful environment. I was disappointed that no one was there to check us in; we never saw any staff member and had to text the owner/manager, which felt impersonal. There was a breakfast room that looked nice but was locked.

“Okay - but expensive for what you get.”

The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the decor modern. It had a good coffee machine and kettle, and the location was convenient for Malahide station. However, it was expensive for what you get. The shower water became tepid after a while. The room was quite light at night because of a flashing smoke detector near the bed, and noise passed easily between rooms. A small communal kitchenette would have been more useful than the sitting room provided, and having a kitchenette and laundry facility would have made the value for money better.

“Beautifully renovated house”

The house was beautifully renovated with comfortable rooms, and we enjoyed seeing the farm animals; the dual-opening windows in the bedroom let in plenty of fresh air for a good night's sleep. We walked a short distance to a garden center that had an exceptionally nice café where we had breakfast, and we could also walk to Malahide village with restaurants, pubs, waterfront, and interesting street life, although the walk was a bit longer than we expected. Following the host’s advice, we took a taxi back after dark.

The property felt like a fresh, tidy farm setting, and walking to the gardens, the upscale breakfast and lunch café, and then just two blocks to Malahide Castle was a breeze; I’m accustomed to AC and wide‑opening windows, which this place lacks.
