Both breakfast and dinner were excellent, and the drink selection was great; the staff were very friendly and eager to share stories about the pub’s history and nearby attractions, though a map of the area would have helped plan walks, and a shelf above the sink in our room got in the way while washing.

A cozy, authentic pub vibe and a nice room with all the usual amenities, but the place feels a bit impersonal. Several waiters, both in the afternoon and the morning, weren't especially warm or personal, making me feel like a clueless outsider. Most other spots we've stayed in across England have had a much friendlier atmosphere and a better understanding that foreigners might not know local norms or food habits.
