“Basic room, next to the beach.”

Very close to the beach. The room is very basic (but matches the pictures exactly, so that’s expected). Reception was mostly unmanned, so I had to use WhatsApp, and sometimes I didn’t get a reply.

Close to the sea, just a couple of kilometres from the main beach clubs of Uppuweli, and the room was clean. Plenty of light comes in early in the morning.

The host was nice and always ready to help with arranging excursions, and the bathroom was tidy with a pleasant shower. Our room could only be entered through a large window on the hallway, making leaving the hotel a hassle. The curtains were transparent, so at 6 am the sun woke us up.

The room was spacious and the bedding comfortable. We were near the beach and there was no direct road out of the hotel (a dead end), which was great with kids. It was a bit far from good restaurants, but a tuk‑tuk works well. We might have liked breakfast to be offered.

“We had very high hopes when booking. We were very disappointed and will not book again at all and will not recommend it”

The air conditioning worked well and I could enjoy a sea view, but the toilet was untidy and dirty, the lock was broken, and flushing took a long time. The basin was filthy, as if never cleaned with bleach or any proper solution; the owner admitted they hadn’t inspected the room before handing it over. The balcony was covered in bird droppings that spoiled the view, and the owner didn’t bother to clean it. It wasn’t worth the money, and although tea bags were available, there was no hot water or kettle. I was disappointed because the review that led me here was misleading, and I wouldn’t recommend it, especially to locals who may get less attention than foreigners.
