The kitchen was a spacious spot to heat water for tea, store drinks in the fridge, and share chamomile before bed while nibbling on biscuits or chocolate. However, the ground‑floor room was a trap: no natural light, a view of a path where neighbors passed, blinds that wouldn’t open, and windows that wouldn’t open. I started my stay with a swarm of flying insects stuck to walls and ceiling, plus a bad smell. For a week the manager came to clean the room and left dead insects in the bathroom. I had to clean up at night and lock the door that led out of the room because of the foul odor. Burning incense didn’t help. Frustrated, I asked to find the source of the infestation; she called a technician who fixed a hole near the toilet that let the flies in. Two days later, while brushing my teeth, I saw a foamy puddle at the sink’s base. I told the manager, who took two days to respond and finally put several towels under the sink where she found a hole. The technician repaired the leak. Finally, a week before the end of my stay, the wall began to detach due to high humidity, with cement and white paint flaking off near the sink both morning and evening. The manager offered me a 10% refund for the dirty wall or a 20% refund if I moved to my friend’s upstairs room the next day, but I refused both. My friend is an 81‑year‑old woman in good shape who needs her own space, and I didn’t want to stay five more days in that mess. I asked for a 50% refund on the entire 21‑day stay for all the inconveniences.
