Convenient location and free parking. The room was dated, worn out, not very clean and very noisy. Not worth the money and won’t stay here again.

The historic Bear Hotel, situated in Havant's heart, boasts modern rooms with private bathrooms and free WiFi. Its traditional restaurant serves locally sourced dishes. The cosy Winston Bar features open fires and real ales. Free parking is available; Havant Rail Station is a 7-minute walk. Portsmouth and Hayling Island are 15 minutes' drive away, with the A3(M) a 5-minute drive.

Nothing. Not much to like, they couldn’t serve food on a Saturday evening because they had a party to cater for; if we hadn’t called in advance we wouldn’t have known until after we arrived, which was after 8 pm. We had two rooms booked; I understand this was a 3‑star hotel but the single room was awful – the carpet was threadbare and very dirty; if we had the chance we would have gone elsewhere, we won’t be staying in a Greene King again. This hotel totally needs a whole renovation; the bathroom had mismatched tiles and looked like it was from the 70s era. The bed felt like sleeping on a slab of concrete, can’t actually say anything nice about the hotel.

The bed was comfortable, but the rooms felt very tired and dated, which matches what you pay for. I paid for an inclusive breakfast, yet the staff never told me the breakfast times at check‑in, so I checked the Green King website, which still claims The Bear serves breakfast until midday on weekends. In reality they close at 10 am, and we missed it. It feels like you don’t always get what you pay for, and the staff seemed uninterested in fixing the problem on site, which was a bit disappointing.

The hotel is a little run down and quirky but the onsite facilities are good, especially the parking and the staff are really friendly and make the stay. Breakfasts are great and dinners are hearty pub grub. Showers are all a bit old fashioned and quirky.

The room was spacious only downside it was up lots of stairs which made it a bit challenging with taking my dogs up and down them. Old building with small staircase BUT the staff are so dog friendly and the large car park make up for it
