On day 5 the chef and the young waitress were very obliging as I was up early for a fishing trip. Day 1: Don’t ask for kippers, the one I got was out of a tin or something. Elderly waitress was very insistent she did not like traditional kippers and rubbished my complaint. I had the single room where the 2 in. piece of soap was expected to last a week, the shampoo sachet lasted once, and in the shower there was no shelf to put the soap on, making it difficult to cope with. Disgraceful. Key security is non‑existent available to anyone as it was just laid on a desk at the main door. Don’t ask about the surly staff in the bars. I just hope the double rooms got better attention than my tiny room did. £171 per night.

Very easy to find. Rooms were comfortable and clean. The pub downstairs was very welcoming and it was so close to the ferry. Perfect for our needs

Great location. The floor under the carpet was loose and every time I stepped it made a noise. I was afraid I was disturbing people below me

“We would have enjoyed this more if the people weren’t allowed to smoke in the doorway”

It had a family room which was handy. People smoked in the doorway which prevented us from opening our windows and the smoke filled the foyer and stairwell. We smelled it on the second floor landing. It would have been helpful to be given instructions about parking before the time of arrival. The email came through after we were already checked and learned (the hard way) not to drive down the roads. It would have also been good to be given information about how early restaurants close
