“Maine Uni Campus experience included!”
We had a good time at the somewhat remote UniCampus, everything was new and clean. Everything said so far can also be seen as a disadvantage depending on what you’re looking for: The Hotel Ursa sits on the Maine University campus just outside Orono, on the opposite bank of the Stillwater River. In the US, you basically need a car anyway—nothing special. There’s also a free parking spot on the premises. The place is definitely quiet. The reception, breakfast area, mini‑market, and fitness centre are in the main building, while we stayed in the annex, parking right in front and walking there in a minute. Everything had a slight Hogwarts vibe, but it was kind of cool. It was summer, so campus was quiet. I can see the hotel aimed at parents dropping by their kids over the weekend. The rooms with high walls in the old, beautiful brick buildings were clean and modernly equipped, yet I felt a bit like I’d slipped back into old dormitory times, but in a good way. For a night on the go or a weekend, it’s absolutely recommended. On the flip side, what I described as positive might not be ideal for others: If you travel alone in summer, the old buildings can feel lost, and with little happening around, it can feel lonely… Also the reception felt run by students—very friendly and charming, but occasionally a bit too laid‑back.
