The spot is right by the bar, but there’s no parking and they warn you not to park in front of the house. Once the door was locked, we had no key—just a code on the iron gate—so any of the 15 guests could lock the front door.
“Decent and affordable shared dorm room central in Daly city.”
I appreciated how close the place was to Cow Palace, the bedding was clean, and they handed me a towel when I arrived. The other guests were quiet, so I never had a noise issue after quiet time. The downside was that the other male guests weren’t always tidy; the downstairs shower stayed clean, but the toilets were often messy. The fridge was disorganized and crowded, probably because most occupants had been there for weeks. There’s a nice deck out back, but I wish there were a few chairs to sit on.
“Overall, good location, fairly priced. For woman wanting to stay, it was mostly men staying there.”
I liked the location; traveling to and from work was easy because the freeway is right next to it. The neighborhood was peaceful—no freeway noise or sirens. The downside was that the lower level was cold and damp, and the bedding smelled musty. It’s dorm‑style mixed‑sex living, and the men didn’t follow bathroom etiquette toward female guests—toilet seats left up, wet sinks, wet floors, etc.
Nothing good at all.
The building was clean—almost like a hospital—and the room had a slight odor until my roommate sprayed deodorant, after which it was fine. I liked the building itself and some of the neighbors. Parking was a nightmare: I got a ticket on the third day (the fine was 00 if I caught it in time to daily City). Parking was scarce, first‑come, first‑served, and earlier occupants had a driveway that was safe from the city. Otherwise neighbors might tow! Also watch the signs; they ticket after 7 a.m. Monday through Friday.
