The outdoor onsen was amazing. The location was good if you want to go to Kamicochi. The regular dinner was fine. We left early and asked if we could get some breakfast (which was paid) to take away because there was nothing nearby, and they refused. You can’t even make tea; it’s the only place that doesn’t let you make tea.

We felt we had an authentic Japanese experience staying at the Pension Kinoshita. I would highly recommend the breakfast and dinner, which are carefully prepared by the lovely hosts. The surrounding forest and scenery are beautiful, we even saw a little squirrel in the garden. Thank you for having us

The ryokan sits in a stunning natural spot, and the outdoor onsen feels genuinely rustic. It’s not crowded because it’s modest in size. The senior lady who runs the place is very helpful and cooks delicious meals.
