Pearl Beach Resort Gili Asahan

The overall experience was pretty good, especially the view and background which really stood out. Snorkeling and swimming were amazing, and the island itself is gorgeous. The bungalows look nice but a bit wild; at least there was hot water for showers. We didn’t encounter many annoying insects if the doors stay closed, though there were a lot of geckos at night. The staff were very helpful and friendly, especially Ruri! Unfortunately, there was an issue with water: they didn’t provide plastic bottles, only a single large bottle in the restaurant area, which was a bit inconvenient at night. The menu was good, but staying several days made it feel a bit short. I also expected a place with more couples, but there were many families with children, and sometimes that ruined the peaceful, serene, and quiet atmosphere. The cute bungalows at the back didn’t have sea views, so it depends on where you pay more; the front ones have brick construction and are closer to the sea. A bit more cleaning would have helped; I understand it’s in nature, but the tents around the bed were fairly dirty, even with some gecko droppings on the top. Basically, at this price you’re paying almost only for the location.

The place is magical on a quiet little island, with a magnificent coral garden. The staff are kind and available, and the restaurant is excellent.

The location is stunning with manicured gardens and a well‑maintained beach. We stayed in a beach bungalow that we really liked, and the outdoor shower and veranda area were great. The house reef is amazing, and we appreciated the conservation work by the Oceanway charity next door, which has planted 4 million corals now. We saw large sea turtles, plenty of coral and sea life, and it never got boring exploring the local area. Walking around the island was fun, and there are some great restaurants nearby if you want to try other food or explore. The staff were very kind, caring, laid‑back, and friendly. Breakfast was pretty decent, especially the chia bowl—yum! Some of the food at the evening restaurant wasn’t great; we had a few dishes that were not very tasty, especially one salad that tasted really bad. The breakfasts were nice, but we ate most other meals at other resorts on the island. The staff were all super lovely, but if they could improve this, the place would be flawless.

The spot is beautiful and this is the third time we’re back. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The diving is excellent. I’m a bit reluctant to write this because it would be a secret to keep, but they deserve it. The food could, in fact, improve.
