“remplacer l'appellation "chambre d'hôtes" totalement inappropriée par "gîte"”
The breakfast was delivered in a tiny table in our corner with some stale bread slices reheated, enough for a single coffee, a little cold milk, a bit of jam but not enough to cover all the toast, two yoghurts and a few cakes… obviously you have to make a profit on the 50 euros given for 4 breakfasts (I regret the 2 euros tip by principle!!!). We were treated as “clients” generating revenue! No presentation, no conversation. I tried several times to start a chat and felt you were absolutely uninterested. I think your partner shares the same mindset because if we know she exists, it seems she had no desire to meet us… The shower in the bedroom causes a lack of privacy for the toilet, which may not be appreciated by everyone… The famous sink deserves special attention: you should try, along with your partner, to wash there. You will feel the discomfort caused by the height of the cabinet on which it is installed, the position of the tap relative to the basin, and the lack of space to place the necessary toiletries… Regarding the “dispute” that interests us, my comments are as follows: Your immediately aggressive reaction cut off any discussion about how we could have reached an agreement. A true “host” would probably have responded by offering solutions… like “this will cost me a bit of varnish and a bit of time to sand the top and re‑varnish the board when the room becomes available…” to which a reasonable and kindly welcomed person would have offered to find a financially reasonable compensation linked to the actual costs incurred! and everyone leaves with a smile! But no, it was immediately “I have proof that it’s you!”, “I will keep you posted by”… etc… But you obviously had the idea of making a little extra charge and 149€ for a few ml of varnish and 1h or 2h of work depending on your skill, it was worth it!
