“Won’t stay here again.”

We never actually stayed there; we were moved to another place after maintenance was announced two days before. The new room felt like a makeshift space with a trestle table and everything on it. The place we ended up in was basically the same makeshift setup, no milk, and finding someone to help was a mission. It didn’t feel ready for Kiwi guests.

“Could be better”

The basics were there: comfy bed and a small kitchenette ensuite. The curtains didn’t block outside light when I tried to sleep, so blackout curtains would help. The TV was useless, not wired to aerial or dish. The shower was fine, but water splashed everywhere and I had to use all the towels to dry the slippery tiles. A grounds keeper is needed.

“Good for short stay”

It was clean and quiet, perfect for privacy lovers. I had to call to get my room number and code on arrival, but that worked out. It would be nicer if that info was emailed or texted beforehand. The big panel heaters were off, so it was quite cold, but the heater that was provided and the electric blankets did the job.

The place is beautiful, but it’s overgrown and neglected—no one seems to care. I was disappointed. The rooms were clean, though. The photos online are outdated and should be updated because the place is a mess.

“adequate premises that could be memorable with a little tlc great location lotsa history”

The premises were clean and fairly modern, with coffee/tea sachets, an efficient heater, and a reasonable TV. But there were no cups or mugs for coffee, no milk, and only one glass. The exterior and grounds were poorly maintained. The site has potential, and it’s a shame.
