“Excellent séjour”

The staff’s kindness, hospitality, and professionalism, the varied and tasty food, the island location, and the included amenities (gym, etc.) were all excellent. Special shout‑out to Sandra—she’ll never be forgotten ♡ Angélique, our super‑sunny Belgian, and Marian for her warmth and smile brightened our meals at Al Ancra, and the lovely restaurant staff at Mafasca were generous; I’m sad not to mention your name. The children’s water park at Barcelo Castillo had cold water and it’s a shame it closes at 1 pm. The mosquito infestation in the bedroom and bathroom forced us to buy electric repellents.

“Lovely room in a very nice pool area.”

The larger suite with a balcony overlooking the pool and the restaurant food were great, and the pool area itself—no trouble getting a sunbed—and the pool bar were all good. The check‑in process was a problem: the official time was 3:00 pm, but we were told our room was vacant yet not ready until 12:15, and we were promised phone updates that never came.

“Très bon séjour”

The location, access to the thalasso, the quality of meals, and the staff’s professionalism and caring attitude were all very good. The building is aging, less well maintained than in previous stays, the poolside looks dull, the room door handles are defective, and the value for money is declining.

“Entspricht nicht dem Niveau eines 4-Sterne-Hotels”

The Royal Level rooms are large, with a separate living area and a balcony or terrace. The hotel sits right on the beach, which is publicly accessible. The staff were very friendly and check‑in was smooth. Being close to the airport was perfect for our trip. However, the entire property is split into several complexes, each acting as its own hotel. The Barcelo Royal Level is one of them, and while the Royal Level status gives access to all the other complexes, the whole resort is huge with many people and sometimes long walks. Both the overall complex and the Royal Level rooms feel dated. The food, even with several restaurants, is rather bland and doesn’t match our expectations for a 4‑star hotel.

The mini‑apartment is very comfortable. The buffet breakfast is great. Depending on the package, you can use the spa and gym for free. The beach is just a few minutes’ walk away. The staff were always friendly and helpful.
