The hotel's location was absolutely stunning

“Good stop-over on tghe was to saunton sands”
The bed was super comfy and I could hear the river flowing outside, which was lovely; the dinner that evening was excellent, especially since I was just past the last orders time, and the breakfast was good. I left my nightshirt in the room and it hasn't turned up (boo), and the steps in the bedroom are a bit potentially dangerous.

“Wedding guests stay”
The room was large, the staff worked hard, and the location was brilliant. However, there were obvious maintenance problems: a lot of water damage in our bathroom from a poorly installed shower screen, the decor needed a redo, windows needed cleaning and one didn’t close fully. This place used to be very desirable. When you went out for a 'special meal', it could be improved with more maintenance and maybe more staff. Prices are not too bad.
