The location is okay, the underfloor heating was great. The bathroom wasn’t fully renovated, corners and edges weren’t finished with tiles, there was no holder for the shower head, the TV didn’t work properly, there were almost no channels, the Wi‑Fi was unstable, and the lighting in the apartment was poor.

“Clean and well maintained apartment on a prime location”

The location was great and check‑in was smooth. It was a small apartment that was very clean and well‑maintained with all the described facilities. The only downside was that all windows faced the street, so blackout curtains would have helped; the ones provided didn’t keep the room dark. Also, there were no hooks for hanging hand towels by the wash basin. We expected a single queen bed but got two single mattresses side by side, which was uncomfortable. These were specific issues that didn’t ruin the stay.

“Sauber und modern, aber unzumutbar im Gesamtpaket”

The room was clean and modern, and they handed me a bottle of water and champagne on arrival. However, the window didn’t let in any daylight because a house wall was only about 20 cm away, and pigeons flew between the walls. Ventilation was impossible and the birds were extremely loud at night. This wasn’t mentioned when I booked, which really annoyed me. My complaints have gone unanswered, and the advertised coffee machine was missing.

“Good location, clean room and slightly better prices than nearby hotels, but extremely poor communication and a noisy en”

Compared with other hotels in Travemünde, this hotel is slightly more reasonably priced. Many hotels in the area seem to take advantage of the ferry traffic to charge inflated prices that are not really justified by what they offer. This hotel is a little less expensive. Its location is also very good, right in the centre, with lovely views of the harbour and the sea. The room itself was perfectly decent and clean. Dinner is also available at a reasonable price. The biggest problem is the absolutely terrible communication. First of all, something I noticed with several hotels I contacted in Travemünde and Lübeck: even when you write to them in English, they reply in German, often with automated messages. This hotel was no exception. For a business working in international tourism, this is frankly ridiculous. If a hotel advertises that English is spoken, guests should reasonably expect to receive replies in English. Even worse, this particular hotel simply did not respond to my messages or to the special requests submitted with my reservation. After two unanswered messages, I eventually had to call customer service, at my own expense, and ask them to contact the hotel on my behalf just to obtain a simple answer. This is completely unacceptable. Communication with guests should be a basic part of running a hotel. Other disadvantages include the lack of parking facilities and the absence of a breakfast option. The hotel is also quite noisy, something future guests should be aware of. There is a church immediately next door, with bells ringing during the night and early in the morning. In addition, a door near our room kept slamming throughout the night because a window had been left open, creating a draught. Overall, the impression was of a hotel where several basic details are simply not given enough attention. The room was clean and acceptable, but the organisation, communication and attention to guests’ comfort leave a lot to be desired
