“It’s a scam , hope it will be banned from booking.com”
Avoid at all costs! Even though we had a prepaid reservation, the staff was extremely rude and told us to leave—no free room was offered. Apparently, rooms were sold off the books to truck drivers and the like.
“Paura e delirio a Sunbawa”
The whale‑shark tour was well organized and the staff were professional, but the location was a nightmare: Google Maps directed us 17 km into a desolate area between two huts, and we had to thank two fisherman families who escorted us on scooters to the correct address. If you’re choosing a route, pick Transit 2, which is far better; Transit 1 doesn’t have a kitchen, and there are no restaurants near the hotel—only a few sad warungs. Also, there’s no hot water.
“In the middle of nowhere along the highway”
Rooms were OK, and interesting flavour added by it also being a truck stop. Location is along the highway in the middle of nowhere. Not close to the whale shark tour departure point (I think that is the hotel Transit 2). Possibly not their fault, but it is also not where the map places it
No one spoke English, and the reception staff had arranged a whale‑shark tour the night before our arrival, but in the morning no one came to pick us up at the hotel, and when we finally got on the boat we weren’t even assigned a vessel. The bathroom was a total disaster, with out‑of‑hotel facilities and dirty towels.
The place felt genuinely local and the staff were very friendly; the location was great and the whale‑shark watching was perfectly organized. I wasn’t expecting a resort, but the experience was fantastic.
