Beyond the architectural charm of the palace itself, the staff displayed a rare kindness and professionalism. If I ever return to Venice, I would definitely go back to them.

The bathroom was excellent—a pleasant surprise for a stay in Venice.

The service was amazing, the location perfect with a private terrace overlooking the bridge where tables were always set, and the breakfast was superb. Nothing to complain about.

There are hotels you enjoy, and then there are those you leave wishing you could extend your stay by a week; Al Ponte Antico clearly belongs to the latter. From the moment we arrived, the experience was exceptional. We had chosen to arrive by boat directly to the hotel’s private pier, a privilege that not all Venetian hotels can offer, and starting a stay in Venice this way feels magical. We were greeted by genuine gentlemen who called us by our first names, with that Italian elegance and attention that immediately makes you feel welcomed rather than just checked in. Then there’s the view—absolutely unbeatable. The Grand Canal, gondolas, and Rialto Bridge right in front of you. Opening your room’s doors in the morning to discover Venice is hard to describe. The hotel sits in a building over 500 years old and has only nine rooms, which completely changes the experience. The property was taken over about twenty years ago by an Italian couple who continue to be personally involved in its operation, which probably explains the special atmosphere: the people who greet you, prepare your breakfast, and attend to every detail give the impression of being hosted at home. Our room with terrace was huge, the bedding extremely comfortable, and everything felt like a true cocoon. We ended up using our private terrace only a little, simply because the hotel’s common areas and their view are already extraordinary. The breakfast deserves a special mention; it was prepared with great care and served facing the Rialto. If there was one thing that could be improved, it would be the bathroom. It clearly needs renovation: wallpaper is starting to peel, there are leakage issues around the shower, and some finishes are aging. It’s especially unfortunate because its layout is fantastic. It’s very large and even has a small vestibule to store your belongings before entering the bathroom—a practical idea we’d love to see elsewhere.
