The German‑style building looked nice, and there were plenty of birds, giving a special feel of living in nature. The shoe rack at the entrance was small, making it hard to take off and put on shoes.

The location was good, and I met an Ezo squirrel during breakfast. I could chat casually with the staff. I couldn’t see any scenery from the room, had no towels or other amenities, the bath mat was not clean, and I could hear a lot of noise from the neighboring rooms and the toilet.

The cabin was warm amid Hokkaido’s cold climate. Dinner and breakfast tasted great. When daylight poured into the cabin, it felt as if the world slowed down. The staff helped warmly when I ran into trouble on the trip. And yes, I could see squirrels nearby in the morning.
