The view into nature is fantastic, and Hutchinson was very friendly and helpful; the outlook is great, and both breakfast and dinner are very good. However, aside from (probably) tap water, there are no drinks in the minibar, which is unacceptable for the price. There is also no Nespresso machine in the room, which is another disappointment.

The lodge’s location is incredibly picturesque and wonderfully secluded; during the transfer from the parking lot we were greeted by rhinos, giraffes, zebras, and antelopes, and the staff were very warm. Yet the value for money is completely off; for the price of one night at Habtias we stayed three nights in other lodges with better facilities. The rooms are very basic, the zip‑fasteners on the outer walls are worn out, and some walls are so warped that the bathroom door doesn’t close. The Instagram potential of the location feels exhausted, and a cow is milked.

“Enorme teleurstelling”

The location was fine, but our stay at Our Habitas Namibia was a huge disappointment, especially given the price. It was the most expensive accommodation on our trip and offered the least value. We had discussed several matters with the hotel before arrival, were told everything would be arranged and that we didn’t need to book in advance, yet the staff were unaware of this. The safari also fell short; while we were promised a good chance to see predators and rhinos, we saw almost no wildlife. The wind was blamed afterward, even though it was known beforehand. After the safari, part of our tent was damaged by the wind: the outdoor lamp was knocked off, electrical wires were loose, and we had no power or lighting, though this was fixed fairly quickly. The next morning, one tent had no hot water because the gas tank was empty, something that should have been checked before new guests arrived. Overall, it was a major let‑down. We chose Our Habitas for a special finish to our trip, but it turned out to be the least satisfying stay. For the price we expected far more in service, communication, and value.

“Beautiful surroundings, but overpriced for the service provided.”

The lodge itself sits beautifully in a stunning, highly scenic spot. Driving through the park to get there was a wonderful experience, with plenty of chances to spot wildlife. The layout and intimate atmosphere of the lodge worked very well, creating a unique and enjoyable experience despite some areas that could improve. The hotel offers a luxurious stay, yet it seemed severely understaffed; for example, the chef was carrying guests’ luggage to the tents, and there were long waits for almost everything. For a higher‑end lodge, the tents were rather basic in amenities—no coffee or tea‑making facilities, and some parts needed repair and refurbishment. The food was tasty but limited, leaving room for improvement.

“Schöne Lodge für ruhige Stunden.”

The food—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—was flawless, 10/10, the best meals I’ve had in Namibia. The safari with Abraham was great and educational—every animal was seen through his tracking skills. The accommodation and lodge feel a bit old‑fashioned, and there is little programming.
