The location was excellent, just a short walk to Kuangxiangzi Food Street, and the room was spacious, clean and handy with a fridge, a TV that could cast, and remote‑controlled curtains; the top floor even had a washer and dryer, and we received plenty of water, while front‑desk staff Xiaoyanzi was very friendly and tried her best to place us on the same floor and meet our other requests, which we really appreciated. However, the elevators were terrible – the building isn’t entirely a Mercure hotel, only a few floors belong to Mercure, the front desk is on the 30th floor and there are three lifts shared with other units that are slow and old; the worst part was that during maintenance there was no notice at the elevator lobby, so the lift stopped working completely and the alarm was useless, with the car shaking frighteningly at times. Luckily I had added the front desk on WeChat, and they managed to get a repair person to pull me out of the shaft. Xiaoyanzi was very diligent, even sending fruit to our room afterward, though the elevator issue was really a management problem, not the front desk’s fault. It’s the first time I’ve encountered something like this, and now I’m a bit hesitant about using the lifts.
