Big Game Udawalawe - by Eco Team is situated on the eastern border of Udawalawe National Park, overlooking a serene lake within a mini nature reserve. This eco-friendly camp offers 30-minute access to the park's main entrance and 45-minute access to the Elephant transit home. Each fan-cooled tent features raised beds, a partitioned bathroom with hot & cold shower, and free bottled water.

It was fun sleeping in a tent, but far from European glamping standards – the camp used canvas beds with water‑filled mattresses. The site is a one‑hour drive from the Udawalawe National Park entrance, so you won’t see the mornings. Dining under the trees was nice and the food was good, but it was hard to find enough different people to give tips.

This place is a real gem, tucked away in the heart of nature. The luxury tents are stunning, with an en-suite bathroom and shower that's hot water heaven. We slept like babies, and the food was top-notch - a four-course dinner served at individual tables with candles and a fire in the middle was a lovely surprise. The staff were friendly and welcoming, but do pack a jumper and scarf for the safari, as it can get chilly and windy on the way to the national park.

We booked a Family Deluxe tent and it was a great choice - spacious, clean, and quiet, yet still surrounded by nature. The tent was super cozy and had a nice camping feel to it. We went on two safaris, one in the afternoon and another the next morning, and were not disappointed by the wildlife. Having a guide booked was definitely worth it. However, the only downside was that the national park was about a 30-minute drive away, which took away from some of the safari time.

The staff here were incredibly friendly and accommodating, which made a big difference in my stay. The large tents were great, and I was pleasantly surprised to find hardly any mosquitoes. The food was also really good. However, the location was a bit of a letdown - it's about 30 minutes from the park entrance, which added an extra hour to our overall trip time, including the time spent inside the park.
