“Bitter sweet. It could have been great. The place itself is lovely.”

The beautiful courtyard; the renovated old Korean style home. The breakfasts were creative and varied, although since one of us is lactose intolerant it would have been great to give us a chance to say so and spare all the milk delivery. Our only real human communication was with the lovely woman who delivers breakfast – but it was not her job to solve our heat and nighttime light problems. We enjoyed the tub – but it is far from a jacuzzi as billed – it has no jets. The owner did drop off a better pillow for my husband's headaches, on request. Difference in bedding expectations is a cultural issue travelers staying in Korean houses should know about. The lack of communication. We were sleep deprived for two days. Because of the security-let-yourself-in system, we never were able to really communicate with our hosts in time to fix problems before they became sleep‑depriving nightmares. An example was the misplaced control for the special 'moonlight' artificial wall in the courtyard – it glared, staying on two whole nights before we finally found the remote that controlled it along with the TV remote in the living room (nowhere near the doors leading to the tub and courtyard access, and NOT LABELLED in English.) None of the remotes was in English so that was no surprise. But most painful of all was the temperature – it was either too cold when we finally found the correct air conditioner control or too hot – before we did. Also – the neighborhood is clearly changing, gentrifying and has a huge mix of suburb/ city vibes. It is VERY hard to find this house – back of a back alley – especially because all drivers' GPS bring them to another street just behind our actual house – with no way of actually reaching the location without turning around in a very tight spot. You are very, very car dependent in this neighborhood, and need to be ready for driver mistakes.

“Just Wonderful”

A stunning traditional place, every detail was handled with care and precision—nothing was missing. The host was incredibly polite and welcoming.

The place was gorgeous and spotless, the bed super comfy and breakfast excellent. The location is a bit distant from restaurants, but a 20‑ to 30‑minute walk or a taxi works; we had a small issue trying to catch a taxi back that night.
