“Niemals wieder”
The location was sensational, with a great view and a beautiful reef right outside the door. The mattresses were stale and smelly, the mosquito nets stank and were riddled with holes. When we asked, we were given a box to keep our belongings away from the rats, but that didn’t change the fact that rats were in the bungalow. One mattress was even chewed up. The rats also roamed freely in the kitchen and the common area, probably because of the trash left around the back of the house. The food was the worst we had in three months in Indonesia – essentially only fish that was repeatedly reheated, cheap broken rice that tasted like nothing. We have stayed in several homestays in Raja Ampat in this price range, but this felt like pure gouging.
