The tents were smaller than the photos and could use a better clean, but the interior was tidy. A nearby pub was handy, and the owner communicated well. The motorway noise was noticeable—earplugs help—and the price felt high for what you get. Blankets weren’t supplied.

The remote spot was gorgeous, and the domes/yurts were spaced so we felt alone there. Plenty of room for us and our two dogs, and the host supplied tea, coffee and crockery. It felt cozy and peaceful, and the individual toilet/showers were a relief compared to communal setups elsewhere. The only downside was the Wi‑Fi, which she warned would be spotty; we relied on phone data and it worked fine.

The Merlin tent was gorgeous and came with everything we could ask for. Its spot was brilliant, just a two‑minute walk to a great pub and corner shop, and we could park right next to the tent. The log burner added a cozy touch. The only downside was that our neighbors were noisy all night during the weekend, but that was entirely their fault.

The shower block was excellent and the site itself was quiet with plenty of space between tents. However, the tent we stayed in seemed to have been nice when the site first opened but now looks worn and in need of major upkeep. The self‑check‑in/out system left us feeling disconnected from any owner or sense of hospitality. It’s pricey for what it offers. The site has potential, but the owners should reassess the facilities or lower the price.

The setting is beautiful, and inside the dome there are nice touches like plants and scattered cushions, plus an A/C unit. There was no one on site at all during our stay; I know it’s a self‑check‑in situation, but there was a total absence of anyone throughout. The location of the toilets and showers was unclear; a sign or two would help. Many things needed updating or fixing: our kettle had no knob on the lid, so we had to fill it through the spout; the kitchen shed didn’t lock securely on one side and was lopsided with gaps; and the dome, Kite, didn’t lock because the little knob on the sliding part of the lock was missing, so we couldn’t slide it over and open. This made me feel vulnerable being just me and my daughter. On the last day I got locked in the toilet because the handle had fallen off from the inside.
