“Dirty room and spa. Avoid!”

It was a short taxi ride away from where we needed to stay. Nothing about the hotel. The rooms were dirty and not cleaned properly after previous guests. There were leftover drinks in the fridge, cigarettes in ashtrays, and the room was not vacuumed. The walls were mouldy, the curtains were falling down and in desperate need of a refurb. The spa was dirty, the outside pool was dirty with overgrown weeds, teabags were thrown in bushes by the pool, and it was a dumping ground for broken furniture. The manager promised a refund and I never received it.

“Needs refurbishment/things fixing.”

The location was very easy to reach. The decor was very tired, the air‑con didn’t work, room service didn’t come while I was out for the day so the room wasn’t cleaned, the bathroom bin was broken, a cupboard door handle in the bathroom was missing, and there was a hole where it should have been. The TV kept saying no signal (after a room change and upgrades when the first room TV didn’t work and the hairdryer was broken). There was no phone in the room, no room‑service menu, and no way to order room service from the room – I had to eat in the restaurant. The receptionist in the early evening/night was super friendly and helpful and did everything she could.

“Won’t be staying again, terrible service, over priced and most things broken and not working.”

The spot was easy to spot and the bed was a nice, comfy one. The staff were nowhere at the desk, lounging on sofas or coming in from outside with a buddy while we rang the bell and waited. The lights and heating in the room were broken, and the curtains fell off, so we asked for a room change. The new room was better, but it was cold and the electric radiator made such a racket that we couldn't sleep, so we had to switch it off. The TV was dead too. When we asked if they could fix anything after the mess with our stay, they said no, not even to add breakfast. The stay was pricey; breakfast was listed as £14.50 but the menu we saw on arrival was £18.50.

The leisure facilities, room, breakfast and station location were all solid. The hotel looks a bit old and could use a bit of TLC.

“Lovely welcoming staff :)”

The rooms were very lovely and nicely decorated. The timber floors let you hear a lot, but that's just how the building is built and not much that can be done.
