An exceptional refuge! The experience went far beyond expectations. The setting among the mountains, the view, the owners’ hospitality, the breakfast, and the kitchen are the highlights of this enchanted place. Perfect for anyone wanting to relax.

The location was unique for me because I love nature and seclusion. An additional toilet for the restaurant would have been helpful, but waiting was still okay.

We had a wonderful night at the refuge and a very good meal served on site. It was a true nature experience with many hikes. Thanks to the owners for their kindness and professionalism. Grazie Mille!!

Pra' La Peira is a gem tucked among hills and surrounded by laurel woods. To get there, you leave your car beside a picnic area and then travel on a dirt road for about 40 minutes. It’s a pleasant walk that lets you enjoy the scenery. About 400 m from the refuge, a sweet maremmana greets you – it barks, but nothing, and it accompanies you to the entrance. It’s the result of 10 years of renovation and design work, and although officially open “only” for a year, it’s clearly integrated into the area and actively collaborates with other nearby structures and artisans, creating a virtuous network that enables excellent service. The room we stayed in is just as I like it: cozy, made of stone and wood, the right size (some may find it small, but for me it’s perfect). There are outlets near the bed, at the entrance, and in the shared bathroom (shared with restaurant guests, but practically exclusive when only refuge guests are present). For colder seasons, there’s a stove in the room and extra blankets. At night it gets very cold, so if you want to watch the stars or take a nighttime walk, bring a thermal shirt and heavy socks. In the room, you feel good: the mattress and pillows are very soft and feel like sleeping on a cloud. During the day, temperatures are normal: in August, with the sun high, you can sit on the hilltop (20 minutes from the refuge) wearing a short‑sleeved shirt without suffering heat. All in all, I highly recommend their kitchen: portions are generous and the taste is not lacking. I especially recommend their PLP starter and goat ragù tajarin. No negatives.
