“It was okay”
The weekend buffet breakfast was a lot better than the Friday served breakfast, which was still fine. The menu was decent, but the steak was incredibly tough; the other meals were great, especially the sublime chicken. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the place was very clean with beautiful beds and bedding. However, it felt a bit soulless, like you weren’t in the bush – the misted glass doors let in too much outside light. There were too few seating areas at the pool, and the viewing deck felt like an afterthought with old, dusty, worn patio chairs. It’s a pity because there are resident hippos in the dam. My biggest let‑down was that it didn’t feel like a lodge at all, more like a school tour venue; more effort is needed to cultivate a bush vibe, as most trees have been cleared. The only reason to stay was to eat and sleep.
