We enjoyed a relaxed breakfast on the seventh floor, where the restaurant offered a nice view. I would have liked to have a regular coffee as well. It would be even better if the breakfast menu included some Western‑style dishes.

Right next to the front desk there were several shampoo and conditioner bottles, and I could take my favourite one into the room and use it. With restaurants and a large supermarket within walking distance, checking in empty‑handed was no problem. The cleaning, however, seemed skimped on; dust and fingerprints covered corners, the desk, the phone handset and the TV screen. A notice warned that a 20,000‑yen fee would be applied if the room smelled of smoke after checkout, yet the room already reeked of tobacco.

It would be nice to have a smoking room, because having to smoke outside makes it uncomfortably hot.
