Riad Al Fassia Palace, a historic Fès landmark, blends traditional Moroccan architecture with modern comforts. Air‑conditioned rooms feature private baths and contemporary amenities. The family‑friendly restaurant offers authentic Moroccan dishes, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten‑free options, with a breakfast of local specialties and fresh pastries. Guests enjoy a sun terrace, hot tub, and live music. Located 20 km from Fès–Saïs Airport, it offers easy access to the city’s cultural sites.

The owners and staff were genuinely kind and helpful, and the interior had a unique character that I appreciated. Breakfast was delicious, and the owner even let us cancel one night without any penalty. However, the property sits in the medina but not in a pleasant part of it—once you step outside it feels dirty until you reach more tourist-friendly spots, and at night it feels unsafe. In my room, dust covered the shelves, the safe was present, the coffee machine was broken, and water leaked from everywhere in the shower instead of the shower head. The clay tiles on the floor were dirty, the bedside lamp didn’t work, and the sofa beds’ mattresses were very uncomfortable. Natural light was scarce throughout the room and the building, and the artificial lighting was poor. The reception area’s plants looked almost dead, and there was ongoing restoration work in the common areas, which made the atmosphere feel off.

Everything was flawless—friendly staff and a fantastic room with a stunning rooftop terrace.

The host family was extremely helpful. Every morning there were different Moroccan specialties for breakfast. The riad is very traditional, which makes it a bit gloomy because all the windows, even the colorful ones, face inward. The mother and wife run a nearby restaurant that is absolutely worth trying. The place is a bit dark, but that’s just the riad’s style. The rooftop could be more appealing—there’s plenty of room for improvement.

We loved the riad’s décor; the local craftsmanship is supported, and the result is very pretty and authentically Fez. The family running the riad is very friendly and helpful, and I can definitely recommend guide Naser for a city tour.
