The suspended tree cabins are magical—who hasn’t dreamed of being a young Huckleberry Finn with extra comfort? The only downside was the time we had; we wish we could have stayed a bit longer.

“Stay cut short due to heat”

The family who run the property are lovely and extremely helpful, and their dog Sonny was a joy! The cabins were well appointed and beautiful. The swimming pool was great and they had bikes available to borrow. During our visit there was an unprecedented heatwave and the wooden tree house was impossible to cool and much hotter than a ground floor accommodation. The owners provided a couple of tower fans, but we could not get the hut any cooler than 32 C overnight with all windows open once the outside temp had lowered and the fans on full blast all night. There was also no respite from the 42 C daytime temperatures, especially as it was a Sunday/Monday so nothing was open in Martillac after midday. We decided to leave after two nights to find some cooler accommodation as we did not feel like it was safe to stay any longer. Given the high cost of the accommodation I would expect there to be air conditioning (even if portable units were provided in hot weather). Given the cabins all have hot tubs, any rationale around not providing aircon due to energy used would seem a little unjustified.

Everything! Great owners, great location, and the most creative, interesting tree houses. Nothing. Loved it all.
