The location was spot‑on—just a 15‑minute walk to the Ercolano ruins and the train station. I stayed one night, then went to Cassino for a night, and came back for another night. The host offered me a late check‑out on the last morning because my flight wasn’t until the evening, but I chose to spend the day in Naples instead and got some local spot suggestions. I couldn’t get in at first because the building was locked; I had to call the owner, who speaks very little English, and he finally gave me the key‑safe code. The building’s exterior looked rough, but inside it was okay. The pre‑packed breakfast was predictable but still present, with tea and coffee but no kettle, so I had to boil water on the stove. Ercolano itself has few bars and restaurants, but there’s a nice Italian spot between the lodging and the station.

The room was cramped even for a solo stay, and the breakfast was very sparse—just a small cake and a tiny bottle of juice—so the host seemed stingy. Language differences probably made the host a bit strict; when I thanked her in English and Italian at checkout, she gave a flat expression and didn’t seem warm.

The central location was great and the host was friendly, reachable quickly, and solution‑oriented, but the place wasn’t entirely clean, had a damp smell, and the upper‑floor residents were very noisy.

In the bathroom the shower released a lot of water, and there were no sponges to manage it; the owner came the next day. I had to leave a towel there for an hour because the water was overwhelming, and I worried the room might flood.
