Guleria Kothi at Ganges

The spot is great if you want to stay inside the city and explore the various ghats. Unfortunately, my room wasn’t clean: both the sheets and pillowcases were dirty. With a nightly rate of about 200 €, especially in India, I expected a much higher standard. I understand the price is mainly justified by the location, which is certainly privileged, but from my view that doesn’t make up for such a steep fee. During the same Varanasi trip I also stayed at DoubleTree by Hilton and Taj Ganges, both at noticeably lower prices, and found rooms spotless, excellent cleanliness, and higher‑level services. Also, since a taxi gets you to the center in roughly 10 minutes, I don’t think the location alone compensates for such a large price difference.

“Not worth , too much inconvenience.”

The place is well situated. The rooms are too cramped, and there’s no road access.

The location and view of the Ganges are great. The staff are attentive. The restaurant is delicious. There’s no alcohol. Getting to the modern city and other restaurants is difficult.

“Fabulous experience.”

The location was outstanding. The staff were all amazing and so friendly. The reception staff helped me enormously and I can’t thank them enough. The Wi‑Fi in my room didn’t work properly, but they were happy to move rooms for me. The heritage walking tour was dreadful; the guide gave no history about the ghats and just walked me through grubby back alleys.

“Beautiful Property in a gorgeous location”

The architecture is beautiful. The overall building is divine and the little areas that you can find have a moment of calm that is so appreciated.
