I stayed at a very clean, old motel that was well maintained by the staff, making it a solid stop on my way to Big Sur – no frills but everything worked nicely.

The spot was convenient, the shower had plenty of hot water, and the neighborhood felt safe; I appreciated the microwave and fridge, but the floor was dirty, there was no ice, the room was tiny, the wall‑mounted nightstand barely held a phone, and the price was way too high for what I got.

The room was clean and tidy, good for a single night, but when we arrived we were given a spot that hadn’t been cleaned yet; luckily a new room was offered almost immediately, though the communication could have been more professional. We paid €226 for one night, which felt steep, probably because of Labor Day Weekend and low availability nearby.
