The property matched my expectations based on the reviews and photos, and I’d stayed in similar spots in England before. I paid for a single room but received a spacious room with three beds. I chose it mainly because it was dog‑friendly, close to the port, and reasonably priced. The location was convenient and the staff were helpful, even carrying my heavy suitcase up to the top floor. The room was clean enough, the temperature comfortable, neither too hot nor too cold. It worked for a single night, but I won’t return. I arrived around midnight on a Saturday and had instructions for after‑hours access, but the message didn’t mention that the pub turns into a nightclub until 2 am on weekends. Getting in through the parking lot with a large suitcase was awkward and I had to talk to several staff members; I honestly don’t know how I’d have found the right spot if the club hadn’t been open. There was also no room key or door code in the lockbox as promised. Luckily a staff member came and gave me the key and code, but I still couldn’t open the coded door later and only got back in when someone else left at the same time. The bed I slept on was slightly collapsed on one side and I slipped into a dent. The biggest problem was that one of the beds had what looked like bed‑bug feces stains; I had to disinfect and heat‑treat everything I brought home and I hope it was enough. When I left at 8.15 am the reception wasn’t open, so I couldn’t report my findings.

Overall it was very comfortable and well insulated even though it sits above a bar that we entered to get to the property. The entry felt a bit odd, especially the somewhat unsettling staircase to the room, but once inside everything was fine. The room was cozy, with a kettle, tea, and coffee available. The shower area wasn’t clean enough. When we left the bar was closed and we hadn’t been told how to exit; fortunately another guest who was leaving at the same time showed us the way.
